Kross Pictures Arrival in India

THOMAS KIM JOURNEY TOWARDS INDIA…

Thomas Kim, co-founder and CEO of Kross pictures first time came India in 2015, and worked on a film project called “teen” with Amitabh Bachchan.

In 2014 Kim met Balaji Telefilms” Tanuj Garg” in Korea for a project. This meeting led Kim to come India and explore Indian filmmaking market. he finds Indian films exciting and emotional. However, there is lack of disciplined storytelling. That’s what the Kross pictures wants to bring to India.

Says he: We are planning to bring Korean stories so that these could be “Indianized” by Indians for the Indian viewer.

Sharing his Indian vision of Kross pictures Kim said: “My aspiration for my Mumbai team is to grow to be a premier production house and then may be possibly a studio in the next future.

He says: The Indian market is huge, it comprises our portfolio, and hence it is a very important market to us. I think bridge between India and Korean marketing will grow in future and soon we will see more and more Korean films remade in Bollywood and vice-versa.

Kim says he see opportunities for Indian content to Work in Korea and other market, and now has full -time staff in Mumbai scouting for properties.

Kross Pictures India is currently producing “The Devotion of Suspect X,” a well-known Japanese detective story by Keigo Higashino, as an eight-part TV series for a global streaming platform. Kross previously re-conceived the same property as a feature film that was released earlier this year in China, and grossed $59.3 million.

 Now, Korean producer and packaging company Kross Pictures is busily turning Korean films and intellectual property into a viable business in India.
